Credit repair isn't like auto repair. When your credit is broken, it's hard to fix it. It can be done, but it won't happen right away.

Fixing bad credit takes time. Time and patience. You essentially have to reestablish yourself as someone who makes their payments on time and is not "overextended," meaning you don't have too much credit available. No credit repair company can do that for you. There are debt management companies and credit counseling companies that can help though, through one of any number of debt management programs, most of which revolve around getting your debt paid off at a lower interest rate. As a result, you could be out of debt (and be on the road to better credit) within five years.

Some debt management companies or credit counseling agencies might refer to themselves as a credit repair company, but you want to stay away from companies that promise to "repair your credit" or "erase your bad credit." You also want to stay away from companies that say they can remove bankruptcies, bad loans, judgments, liens, etc. from your credit file or who suggest that you get a new identity to deal with your credit problems. Nobody can do these things. Again, good credit is earned over time and responsible spending and payment behavior.
